Join our friendly and passionate Community Therapy Team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as a highly skilled and enthusiastic Physiotherapist. Working as a Band 7 Clinical Specialist in the Locality Therapy Team offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, complex patient care while also developing leadership skills and shaping service delivery. The role provides a balance of clinical autonomy, team leadership, and involvement in service improvement, alongside strong multi-disciplinary working across the health and social care system. This makes it a highly rewarding position for both professional development and improving patient outcomes. The core purposes of the role is to provide specialist clinical expertise for patients with highly complex needs. Lead and support staff to ensure high standards of clinical care and practice. Manage a personal caseload, including assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reablement. Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of therapy services. Supervise, mentor, and appraise staff within the team.
Main duties of the job
1. Clinical Leadership * Act as a clinical expert and advisor within the service * Support decision-making for complex cases and specialist interventions * Lead on equipment provision and specialist interventions 2. Caseload Management * Carry responsibility for a complex caseload * Deliver comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning * Promote independence, self-management, and safe discharge planning 3. Team Leadership & Supervision * Provide day-to-day supervision and formal appraisal of staff * Mentor therapists, support workers, and students * Delegate work and ensure practice meets professional standards 4. Service Development & Quality * Contribute to service improvement, audits, and research * Monitor quality and address performance or risk issues * Support implementation of evidence-based practice and national guidance (e.g. NICE) 5. Multi-Disciplinary Working * Work closely with GPs, consultants, nurses, social care, and third sector partners * Ensure co-ordinated, patient-centred care across services 6. Operational & Flexible Working * Adapt working hours to meet service needs, this may include weekends and bank holidays Essentially responsible for delivering high-quality, specialist patient care while leading and developing the therapy team and service.
