We have an exciting opportunity for an advanced highly skilled hand therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to join the Plastic Surgery Team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS trust in an Extended Scope Band 8a position.
The majority of the clinical caseload is post-trauma surgery. As a major trauma centre for the southwest we treat a variety of post op patients e.g tendon repairs to digit replantation's and large hand/arm reconstructions.
You will bring your knowledge as an experienced hand therapist to apply your skills in wound care, mobilisation and splinting to achieve the best outcome for patients post-trauma surgery.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
You will be involved in monthly Adult and Paediatric MDT scar clinics advising on scar management including massage, silicone therapy and the provision of off-the shelf and made to measure pressure garments.
The ESP caseload is currently post op elective hand surgery patients for example CTD and dupuytrens. The clinics run twice a week alongside a hand specialist plastic surgeon. There is an opportunity to develop this role with potential to expand caseload or transfer to ESP role in trauma clinic
This post is 22.5 hours per week over 3 days. We require the post holder to work Tuesday and Friday 9:00-17:00 with the remaining day being negotiable.
We will consider a developmental Band 7 to Band 8a post depending on skills and experience.
