Job overview

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced research practitioner or research allied health professional or nurse to join an exciting NIHR-funded study. The study is a randomised effectiveness – implementation feasibility trial evaluating a community-based exercise and peer support intervention for individuals on waiting lists for total knee replacement surgery.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the study, supporting its operational delivery, and leading on data collection and analysis, working closely with the wider research team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with a background in applied health research, including experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods. You will be supported in further developing your research skills within a dynamic and collaborative team. There may also be opportunities to contribute to other high-quality research projects, depending on study needs.

A strong commitment to improving patient outcomes and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively with researchers, patients, and public contributors is essential.

This is a full-time position offered on a fixed-term contract for 24 months, subject to successful study progress. Contract is anticipated to start early 2026, with exact dates being confirmed/agreed during interview process.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake study related tasks and procedures in accordance with the study protocol, Trust’s policies, research governance guidance, the ICH GCP guidelines, and the Data Protection Act.
  • Responsible for recruiting to and following up participants within the trial and other related high quality clinical studies.
  • Collect and manage study participant data, including both qualitative and quantitative, ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout.
  • Analyse study data under the guidance of the Chief Investigator and other senior members of the research team.
  • Ensure all study documents are kept up to date, version controlled and effectively stored and archived in line with governance requirements.
  • Communicate research findings effectively to different audiences, including patient and public contributors.
