Research Fellow in Paediatric Endocrinology

(Equivalent of Specialist Trainee 3+)

This is a 12 month fixed term position working at 0.8 FTE which will be based in the NIHR GOSH CRF, the role is available from March 2026. The post holder will be dedicated solely to paediatric endocrinology research. They will be instrumental in helping to conduct commercially and other externally funded studies, including phase I, II and III trials, as well as registry studies under the supervision of the relevant primary and sub-investigator(s). Depending on research funding, there is the possibility of either extending this to a full time equivalent position, or extending its duration.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

  • Assisting with screening and review of whether proposed patients meet inclusion/ exclusion criteria
  • Reconfirming consent/ assent taken by primary and sub-investigators
  • Obtaining a thorough medical history and performing a detailed physical examination at baseline, reviewing these at set intervals as determined by various studies
  • Administration of trial-related patient questionnaires (training will be provided as needed)
  • Assisting nursing staff with obtaining vital signs, blood samples and other basic clinical tasks (training will be provided as needed)
  • Review and reporting of adverse and serious adverse events with support from the primary and/ or sub-investigators
  • Attendance at any trial-related meetings as determined by the primary and/ or sub-investigators
  • Other clinical tasks as dictated by various studies.
  • To analyse retrospective biochemical data in a cohort of patients with endocrine conditions and write up the clinical data.
  • To contribute to the drafting and submission of meeting abstracts, posters, and research manuscripts.
  • Participate or lead on audits and QI projects.
  • To contribute to the overall, normal activities of the research team and department as required, including attendance at department meetings and seminars.
  • This is a non-resident post. No additional emergency duties.
