Job overview

Our service recently successfully recruited two new band 7 therapy posts from a very competitive field that included a large number of great candidates. We are back on the market looking for another band 7 Clinical Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to join  our central Manchester Early Intervention team. This post has arisen after our highly valued colleague was successful in moving onwards and upwards to a new post in a team that will be very fortunate to have her join them.

We recently secured funding for 21 new staff, so this a great time to join and help us turn this investment into a big success for the service users and families we support.

Our EIS multi-disciplinary colleagues work alongside each other to offer therapeutic interventions to people experiencing or at risk of experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

We have a fantastic collection of colleagues, service users and families to work alongside and the successful applicants will be well supported in their new role. Although in some services, the life of a therapist can sometimes feel a little lonely, here the successful applicants will be surrounded by kind, caring colleagues who are enjoyable to be around.

Although working within a service like ours can involve significant challenges, we have a great staff group and a very low turnover.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will not only be well supported therapists, facilitating individual therapy, they will be integrated MDT Psychological Therapists, working closely with colleagues and contributing to assessments, family focused interventions as well as providing support, advice, occasional training and supervision to colleagues within the service.  As well as having plenty of autonomy and flexibility to manage your own working week (we are strong supporters of a positive work/life balance), we will also ensure that you have enough variety within the role to coincide with a comfortable and enjoyable workload.

We prioritise the facilitation of CBTp and Behavioural Family Therapy within the service, but our therapy staff have a range of interests and experience that span multiple therapeutic modalities (e.g. compassion, schema, EMDR, Transaction Analysis, Psychodynamic, CAT, etc.).

Our EIS service covers quite large areas within the city, so it is advantageous to have your own transport or lots of comfort and confidence in using public transport across the city (from Wythenshawe, etc. in the south up to Blackley, etc. in the north).
