Job overview

We invite you to consider being involved in this exciting opportunity to help to deliver the governments vision of having integrated mental health teams in schools. Building on existing 'whole school approaches’ to mental health and wellbeing, Surrey continues to embed school based mental health teams to increase access to mental health interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

Our school-based needs teams (SBN) have 3 core functions; supporting families and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties by delivering evidence-based interventions in schools; providing timely advice and consultation to school staff and supporting schools to deliver whole school approaches to mental health.

We currently have 4 WTE vacancies for Band 7 Senior Clinicians. We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary team and welcome applications from candidates from range of professional backgrounds including, but not exclusively, CBT Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Child Psychotherapy and Mental Health Nursing. The teams work as part of 3 geographical hubs (North, South and East) with clinic bases across Surrey in Chertsey, Frimley, Godalming, Guildford, Leatherhead and Redhill. Each team is also co-located and delivers support in a range of schools in each area.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Clinician you will be mentoring and/or supervising the development of Low Intensity CBT practitioners (EMHPs/CWPs) in your team, building a culture of high-quality clinical practice. You will grow and nurture trainees and newly qualified EMHPs/CWPs, utilising your experience and skills to ensure they develop into well rounded clinicians.

You will take the lead in building relationships with senior leaders in schools, providing regular case consultation, support and advice, and being a 'link' to the wider children's mental health services. Together with the Lead and educational psychologists, you will develop programmes of work to support schools with their whole school approach goals, enabling more sustainable, holistic change. Finally, you will hold a caseload, delivering direct interventions to CYP and families.

We are looking for inspiring, motivated, forward-thinking clinicians who are flexible and able to work effectively with partners in education, multiagency partners, children, young people and their families.
