Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Dudley Group NHS Foundation for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Medicines Management Technician (MMT) to support the delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy services to the Medicine Division, including the new Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Ridge Hill.

You will be an integral member of the MDT, promoting medicines management and optimisation,  providing medicines advice and facilitating patient flow, including transfer and discharge across Stroke services. The postholder will be required to attend Ridge Hill three times per week to provide pharmacy services.

Hours of work will be based on 7.5 hours daily between the hours of 8.30am and 7.30pm weekdays, with a late shift allocated on a rotational basis. In addition, the post holder must be able to participate in the rota for the weekend and Bank Holiday service provision.

Main duties of the job

  • Provides an advanced level of Medicines Management at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust (DGH), including off-site Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at the Ridge Hill facility in Dudley.
  • Be an integral member of the clinical pharmacy medicine team and deputise for the Lead MMT for Medicine to support clinical pharmacy services.
  • To contribute to high‑quality, patient‑centred medicines optimisation, ensuring the safe, effective and timely use of medicines throughout the patient journey.
  • Deliver quality care to patients at ward level as part of an efficient Medicines Management team; undertaking a wide range of duties including accurate medicines reconciliation, assessment and utilisation of Patient’s Own Drugs, non‑stock ordering /processing, one‑stop dispensing, patient counselling, and the coordination of discharge medication.
  • Regular weekly visits to the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Ridge Hill to deliver high quality care as part of the MDT, supporting service users with complex clinical and social needs and facilitating timely ward transfer from the Stroke ward at DGH and discharge from Ridge Hill.
  • Training, supervising and coordinating the work of band 4 rotational pharmacy technicians, ATOs, students and support staff at ward level.
  • The post-holder will participate in our late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas.
  • Technicians may be asked to provide support on any of the Trust sites.
