Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with an interest in Oncology and/or Haematology to join our Pharmacy Cancer team in Swansea Bay University Health Board. Our team comprises of a number of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians with a breadth of knowledge and experience.

Singleton hospital is a Cancer Centre providing services to the population of South West Wales. SWWCC includes a Radiotherapy Department, Oncology and Haematology Chemotherapy day units, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and a dedicated Oncology/Haematology ward.

Singleton hospital looks out over the sweep of Swansea Bay, 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and within 15 minutes’ drive to the award winning coast of the Gower peninsula, the UK’s first area of outstanding natural beauty.

Main duties of the job

You will work with other cancer services pharmacists to deliver clinical pharmacy services to the Cancer Services Directorate. This will include the clinical screening of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) prescriptions on the Chemocare prescribing system. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the TPN ward service, reviewing individual patients’ nutritional requirements and working within the multidisciplinary team to tailor treatment plans.

You will also provide cover in our licensed aseptic unit which supports clinical pharmacy services by providing SACT and CIVAS. Duties will include supervision and release of individually prepared and batch manufactured medicines.
