Job overview

The Macmillan Acute Oncology Nursing Service is now a well established service within Hywel Dda University Health Board.

We are looking for a motivated Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the current team, providing excellent clinical skills and experience to review patients admitted with either complications of anti cancer treatment, complications of malignancy or new diagnosis of malignancy during an emergency admission.

The base of this role will be  Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen. However, the post will require the successful applicant to work flexibly across all three sites in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire (Withybush General Hospital, Glangwili General Hospital and Prince Philip Hospital).

The post holder will also occasionally work on the oncology and haematology SACT cancer treatment triage line.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the Health Board with an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, innovation, negotiation and teaching. The post holder will have the ability to work under pressure, be keen to face challenges, be well organised and enthusiastic, possess good IT skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work as an effective member of a Multidisciplinary Team.

The purpose of this role is to provide specialist nursing advice, guidance, support and leadership.

Work autonomously and manage own workload.

Provide specialist education and training to Staff.

The focus of this role will be to support the care of inpatients, requiring specialist oncology advice during an acute admission to hospital.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
