Specialist TVN Dermatology Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7* (*experience dependant) Tissue Viability  Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Tissue Viability Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children(GOSH).

At GOSH every patient is special, which means every nurse who cares for them must be special too. Many of our patients are on long journeys to recovery, and so our nurses build strong relationships with them and their families.

The Tissue Viability Nursing team is looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join their expert nurse led service.  This is an integral service within the hospital.  It covers all inpatient beds and also supports outpatient services.

This is a chance to specialise in Paediatric Tissue Viability as part of a dedicated world-class hospital.  The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work alongside a diverse number of the multi-disciplinary team across all specialities in the hospital and manage their own clinical caseload.

Main duties of the job

Why we need you:

  • To advise on holistic assessment to identify variables influencing healing/skin integrity.
  • To review patients with acute or chronic wounds where the ward staff responsible for the patients care is unable to plan appropriate wound management.
  • To provide ward staff with specialist clinical support for patients with complex tissue viability needs.
  • To liaise with other health professionals within the wider multidisciplinary team to enhance care and advise on pressure relieving equipment.
  • To advise on the use of topical negative pressure therapy and other specialist interactive treatment.
  • To provide educational support in the management of simple and complex wounds, pressure ulcer prevention and maintaining skin integrity.

You will join the current team of one Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist and one Band 6 ITU Skin integrity Specialist Nurse (to be appointed).
