An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Tuberculosis (TB) team based at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic candidates who are highly motivated and have a passion for providing a high quality of care. Previous experience and clinical knowledge of TB, screening, contact tracing, treatments and medicines management is beneficial. You will be working closely with the TB lead consultant to provide specialist clinics, clinical advice, support and education to patients/carers and the wider multidisciplinary team across primary and secondary care to ensure a seamless service.
To develop and manage a nurse led service with appropriate procedures and protocols, clinical guidelines and pathways.
To act as a specialist resource for local professionals and community groups.
To ensure representation by the Trust at North West London TB sector meetings.
To provide specialist advice to health care colleagues and other agencies on the prevention and management of TB.
To assist the health protection agency in the investigation of cases/potential outbreaks.
To arrange specialist investigations including Chest x-rays, blood tests and microbiology test for patients following assessments.
To perform Tuberculin tests (Mantoux test) and accurately read and report the result on patients attending the TB contact clinic, or as part of the investigation as an aid to diagnosis for inpatients in the hospital or attending the chest clinic or other outpatient clinics.
To perform new entrance, pre anti TNF/Biologics screening and contact tracing.
To be up to date with regional and national Initiatives in TB management and promote local implementation and disseminate good practice.
To carry out pre assessment, starting and monitoring treatment.
To advise on the management of complex patient issues, particularly those that are not included in agreed protocols and professional policies.
To investigate results from TB labs and assess urgency and need for medical review.
