An opportunity has arisen for a Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist to work in the Wound Care Team for East London Foundation Trust in Bedfordshire Community Healthcare Service. This role is responsible for the delivery of safe and effective services for patients with tissue viability needs within the community services of Bedfordshire.
You will need to be a first level registered nurse with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience with at least 2 years in the specialty of wound care with a recognised wound care qualification, a qualification in sharp debridement and experience of caring for a variety of wounds including burns, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and wounds requiring negative pressure. You should be qualified to degree level and hold or working towards BSc in Tissue Viability or Dermatology. You must have a mentorship qualification and undertaken training in Quality Improvement.
As a senior member of the Tissue Viability Team, you will provide expert clinical leadership, specialist assessment, and evidence‑based advice to community nursing teams, mental health teams, care homes, and other partners across Mid Bedfordshire. You will play a key role in driving pressure ulcer prevention, supporting complex wound management, and leading quality‑improvement initiatives that directly enhance patient outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to influence practice across a diverse population, working autonomously while being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
This will be achieved through clinical practice, management, education, research and audit and professional activities taking into account corporate and directorate objectives and within the clinical governance framework.
You will be required to support in leading a team of nurses to ensure that the management of complex wounds including leg ulcers and pressure ulcers within the locality teams is supported in line with the pressure ulcer pathway and national wound care guidance. This includes undertaking specialist reviews within the agreed time line as required and supporting learning from pressure ulcer incidents.
The role requires working across multiple Trust sites, patient’s homes, nursing and residential homes.
