We are recruiting for a Band 8a Clinical Lead Dietitian at the Royal London Hospital on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietitian to lead the acute adult dietetic team, overseeing critical care, neurosciences, trauma and stroke dietetic services. You will be responsible for the clinical management of patients admitted to the adult critical care unit (ACCU).

You will be joining a friendly, enthusiastic and supportive team of  Dietitians who cover a range of specialist clinical areas.

To provide clinical and site leadership for the Nutrition and Dietetic team at The Royal London Hospital, within Barts Health NHS Trust.

To be responsible for the coordination, development, and delivery of the dietetic service on the Royal London site. This includes the day-to-day operational, managerial, clinical, and professional delivery of the service. To act as an expert Dietetic Practitioner and clinical lead for dietetics on the Critical Care unit, neurosciences, trauma and stroke wards. To drive service transformation, with an emphasis on developing services that are fit for the future and aligned with Trust and service objectives.

To be a resource for other team members when encountering complex and/or problematic clinical situations that need immediate clinical input and provide advice on the on-going management of such patients.

Main duties of the job

The aim of this role is to deliver specialist clinical expertise on the adult critical care unit (ACCU). This position will provide strategic, day-to-day operational leadership and specialist input to enhance the acute dietetic service across the critical care, neurosciences, trauma and stroke dietetic teams.

As the lead Dietitian for ACCU you will be responsible for management of complex critically ill patients including those on oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition support and and will provide clinical and professional leadership for complex nutritional support at the Royal London Hospital. You will be expected to function with a high degree of autonomy providing expert clinical service to the ACCU at Royal London Hospital while also working alongside Dietitians across the Trust to share and implement trust wide nutrition initiatives.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead Dietitian responsible for intestinal failure, surgical and specialist medicine services to ensure cohesive clinical leadership across specialties.

The post holder will have expert knowledge and skills to be able to support and deliver QI projects across dietetics, develop networked relationships in trust and beyond, support the delivery of teaching and training, and work collaboratively with the Clinical Lead Therapists at the Royal London Hospital.
