NHS TAYSIDE

FIXED TERM: 12 months Clinical Fellows (ST3 Level Equivalent)

Cardiology - Ninewells Hospital and Medical School

Two Posts

Applications are welcomed by NHS Tayside for two Fixed Term Clinical Fellows in Cardiology.

You will join the established Tayside Cardiology Registrar on call rota including supporting the 24/7 Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) service. You will contribute to general Registrar activities including Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and ward cover as ‘registrar of the week’. There will be opportunities to gain exposure to cardiology procedures and it is envisaged the post will be an excellent opportunity to start on the career path in Cardiology.

The Cardiology Department at Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary provides an in-patient and out-patient cardiology service for patients in Dundee and surrounding areas, Perth and Kinross, Angus and North East Fife. The spacious CCU has 9 monitored beds with facilities for x-ray screening and haemodynamic monitoring and dialysis. There is a 30 bedded Cardiology Ward with telemetry beds. There will be opportunities to participate in outpatient clinics both general and sub specialist.

Non-invasive facilities include cardiac imaging transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echo, cardiac MRI and a CT coronary angiography service.

The service includes a main cardiac catheter laboratory with second mobile catheter lab for pacing and PCI overflow. There will be an opportunity for exposure to both coronary angiography/ PCI and pacemaker implantation (including complex devices). A Ninewells electrophysiology service is now well developed.

Informal enquiries are welcome by contact with:

  • Dr Ben Szwejkowski, Clinical Lead for Cardiology, 01382 632263 or
  • Dr Neil Anglim, Training Programme Director Cardiology, 01382 6405509.

Hours of work are 40 hours per week. Less than full time hours may be considered.

Closing date: 13th May 2026

Interview date: 2nd June 2026 (TBC)

Start date: 5th August 2026

Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email. Please check your emails regularly, including your junk/spam folder.
