
The duties of the Fellow would be mainly to anaesthetise for elective operating lists in main theatres. The post holder would provide pre- and post-operative care to patients on these lists. There is a requirement to participate in the resident on-call rota. The on-call duties would involve cover of the intensive care department and/or the operating theatres and obstetric anaesthesia.
The successful candidate will contribute to all the activities of the department, Division and Trust as a whole, including the training and supervision of staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The appointee will be expected to both initiate and participate in department audit and research projects. He or she will be aware of the importance of working closely with the Lead Clinicians and relevant Managers for Anaesthetics and Critical Care and other colleagues in the department and Division, further the relationships with other specialties and the Trust management.
The aim of the fellowship would be to provide training and experience to allow the post-holder to achieve experience in Major General / Cytoreductive surgery prior to taking up a consultant post. Fellows would be encouraged to become actively involved in research.
