One-Year Clinical Fellowship in Electrophysiology – Cardiology
Trust Grade Doctor Appointment – Immediate Start
The post will be managed by the Cardiovascular and Renal Sciences CPG. and is designed to offer experience in Arrhythmia management and General Cardiology. Previous experience in Arrhythmia Management would be expected. The experience gained is suitable for doctors intending to apply for an NTN, although it will not be formally recognised as contributing towards a CCST. There are many ongoing clinical research projects within the department, and the post holder will have opportunities for exposure to clinical research.
This newly created post is based at Hammersmith Hospital, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, within the joint Directorate of Women’s, Cardiac, Clinical Support and Sexual Health, and specifically within the Cardiac Division.
This fellowship offers a strong academic and research component, with close ties to Imperial College London, one of the world’s leading research institutions. Fellows will be encouraged to engage in ongoing research projects, contribute to academic publications, and participate in collaborative studies within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) infrastructure and other Imperial College-led initiatives. Opportunities for involvement in teaching and postgraduate education are also available, supporting career development in academic cardiology.
This timetable will depend the clinical experience of the applicant, and duties will include:
Cardiac Electrophysiology Procedures in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory
Involvement in Clinical EP Research
Management of the EP Inpatients
Supporting the EP MDT
Collation and presentation of M&M data
Involvement with the NICOR database
In-patient management
Outpatients Clinics
Ward referrals
Attendance at audit and other departmental clinical meetings
One year Clinical Fellowship in Electrophysiology, formally appointed as a Trust Grade doctor (up to ST6 equivalent or post-CCT fellow). The post would be ideally suited for candidates who are in their final year of training or post CCST, but also open to those seeking training in cardiac electrophysiology post-PhD.
All candidates should have full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC. Full MRCP is required. Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that the candidate provides written confirmation from the Royal College and attaches this to their application. Applicants who do not provide this confirmation will not be put forward for short-listing.
Doctors who are not UK or EEA nationals and whose immigration status entitles them to work without restriction in the UK will be considered on an equal basis with UK and EEA nationals. Other non-UK or non-EEA nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK and whose employment will require Tier 2 sponsorship are subject to the Resident Labour Market Test (RLMT). Applicants may only be considered if there is no suitable UK or EEA national candidate for the post. Evidence of immigration status should normally consist of a biometric residence card, date stamped passport and accompanying letter from the Home Office.
