We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled resident doctor at ST3+ level who clearly has a specialist interest in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The candidate will have achieved full MRCP qualification and have experience of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in practice. This might include clinical placements, experience of medicines management and governance committees or equivalent, audit with particular emphasis on therapeutics, experience in clinical toxicology or (early phase) research or have delivered teaching about pharmacology or therapeutics.

Full GMC registration is required at time of application. Previous paid NHS experience is essential (this does not include clinical attachments or observerships). This is a part time, fixed term post, from 6 August 2025 until 4 November 2025.

Main duties of the job

This role aims to provide ST3-5 support to the existing Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics team across our full scope of practice. The successful applicant will join our two other ST3+ trainees in together providing clinical care on our inpatient ward, during Toxicology ward rounds, in Hypertension clinic, in medicines management and in clinical research. You will work with our team of 4 consultants, our resident doctors and our wider multidisciplinary teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical: •    Delivery of clinical care on the CPT ward, shared between our ST3+ cohort •    Contribution to delivery of clinical care in our weekly Hypertension Clinic, again shared with other ST3+ colleagues  •    Support Toxicology inpatient care with the consultant toxicologist, again shared with other ST3

Administrative: •    Involvement in Medicine Management and Medicines Safety work across the Trust •    Comply with Trust Clinical Governance and safety processes including participation in quality improvement and audit •    Support the team with discharge summary completion, shared fairly among the resident team

Research:

  • Opportunity to contribute to delivery of clinical research in the clinical research facility •    Opportunity to become a sub investigator on a suitable clinic trial where the PI is one of the CPT Consultant team

Teaching: •    Contribute to CPT team teaching delivery across a number of health care professional groups. Support resident doctors at training grades below ST3
