A new opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Oncology Lung Team We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals with an interest in Lung.   Only applicants with clinical oncology experience of 2 years or more.  This is a patient facing role so good communication skills are required.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver Oncology outpatient clinic reviews to provide patient management at all stages of the disease pathway. •    Undertaking clinical administration in respect of outpatient clinics e.g. diagnostic test requesting, clinical correspondence, MDT referrals etc. •    Contribute to Acute Oncology for Leighton and Macclesfield Hospitals as required •    Provide supervision, support and guidance as required for other members of the Oncology MDT e.g. junior medical staff, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists •    Provide a leadership role in Oncology clinics in the absence of consultant colleagues •    Provide cross-cover for other members of the Oncology team as required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The medical establishment provides (11 Consultants  to the Clinical Oncology Lung  Team.).

The appointee will be based at The Christie and will provide senior input to the  Clinical Oncology Lung Disease Group.

The role will be responsible for: •    Taking a leadership role within the Oncology clinics in the absence of Consultant colleagues •    Contribute to the Trust-wide agenda in line with consultant colleagues with respect to service improvement and clinical leadership, teaching and research. •    To attend and present cases at the MDTs on a rotational basis to provide cover for consultant colleagues and to participate in management decisions. •    To independently review patients in outpatient clinics and to formulate management decisions in consultation with Senior Colleagues. Continuing Professional Development The Trust supports the requirements for continuing professional development (CPD) as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.

Role Planning The timetable below is indicative only and will be confirmed on commencement in post.  It is likely that the timetable will include a mix of fixed clinical commitments and a number of rotational commitments (e.g. to enable participation in a number of MDTs).

On call Commitments This role does not require participation in the on-call rota.
