Job overview

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Endoscopist to join our high-performing and expanding Endoscopy Service.

Our service continues to grow following the refurbishment and expansion of our Charing Cross Hospital unit, where we are moving to full capacity across four procedure rooms. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across our hospital sites. As a Clinical Endoscopist, you will independently perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy on both sedated and non-sedated patients. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the delivery, development, and ongoing improvement of our endoscopy service.

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic and inspirational nurse endoscopist with a strong commitment to holistic patient care, education, and service excellence. You will work across Charing Cross, St Mary’s, and Hammersmith Hospitals, with support from the Lead Clinical Endoscopist and the Endoscopy Clinical Lead.

Main duties of the job

  • Be a JAG accredited endoscopist working autonomously in performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy procedures on sedated and non-sedated patients.
  • Undertake 5 endoscopy lists per week and additionally when required, provide backfill for one other.
  • Be an active member of the endoscopy users’ group.
  • Work closely with the clinical, nursing and admin teams to ensure clear pathway for patients and effective management plans.
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining audits and databases to assess compliance with JAG regulations, and be able to present findings and make recommendations to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Conduct analysis to understand differences and trends in screening uptake and establish where to target health promotion efforts.
  • Engage in the development and maintenance of a range of expert networks.
