We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated registered healthcare professional to join our clinical education team within the corporate division.    Post holder will be part of the team responsible for supporting the post-registration education and development of staff.  Less frequently they will support the provision of education and development for students and nursing apprentices.

Post registration training and development includes supporting staff with induction & preceptorship, support with continuous professional development via learning needs analysis, support of internationally recruited colleagues, clinical skill training including venepuncture and cannulation and the delivery of education packages including the acute illness management course, making every contact count and human factors.

The clinical education team is a  friendly, supportive, professional team who works collaboratively with multi-professional teams, higher education institutes and stake holder organisations to influence and shape the future of healthcare delivery.

Main duties of the job

It is essential that you hold a current UK Professional Registration with NMC or HCPC and are able to work in the UK.  You must have recent experience of working in an acute clinical environment as a preceptor, educator, assessor or supervisor.

You will have evidence of continuous professional development and should hold a teaching or assessing qualification. We are looking for staff with a clinical skillset, experience and willingness to support learners and staff from a verity professional groups/backgrounds.   With a flexible and adaptable approach you will act as a resource and role model within the clinical areas.

The successful candidate will work with the existing team to develop and deliver our education strategy in partnership with the clinical areas and senior clinical educators.

Each clinical educator (CE) is responsible for leading on an education objective and will share practice; developments and feedback and review progress against both corporate and divisional objectives.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside students and staff  to enhance training and support, which will result in positive experiences and influence recruitment and retention.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The primary purpose of this role is to support and deliver on-going education, training for nursing and midwifery teams and may also be required to support members of the wider MDT.
  • Identify all opportunities for themselves and others where learning can take place, both formally and informally.
  • Support placement areas to provide excellent learning experiences for all healthcare learners on clinical placements
  • Makes an active contribute to the Corporate agenda and supports in the organisations training and development needs.
  • To maintain the delivery and quality of services provided within the care environment including the care delivered, supporting nursing standards and acting as a role model working clinically with staff where needed.
  • Influence change and quality improvement, utilising the most recent evidence base.
  • Contribute to interview panels, where appropriate in the appointment of staff, and be aware of legislation and local personnel policies affecting the employment of staff.
  • Support staff and learners to complete training and competency assessments
  • Implementation of evaluation audits to measure the impact of educational programmes and disseminate the results.
  • Support and deliver evidence based inductions for new staff and students.
  • Facilitate the provision of supervision and assessment training and support.
  • Identify areas of good practice and provide opportunities for staff to share this across the organisation.
  • Responsible for development of all levels of staff by identifying training needs, setting objectives and facilitating inter professional education for staff.
  • Contributes to local, regional and national study events, providing knowledge and expertise.
  • Acts as an expert in the provision of education and staff development
  • Trust wide and external site working across a variety of locations is an essential requirement of this post.
