The Clinical Coding service is a part of the Digital & Data Team of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN) and is responsible for extracting and codifying complex clinical information that describes a patient's diagnostic and procedural healthcare status within an episode of care in a timely manner.
The ability of the UHN Group to accurate record and codify its clinical activity is fundamental to understanding the quality of its clinical services. Our coded data is used by all parts of the Group's business to deliver trusted and high-quality services to patients.
The Clinical Coding Automation Lead is a core component of the Clinical Coding service and has a crucial supporting role in the overall management of the Group as their output directly influences income through the NHS Payment Scheme.
This post attracts a 10% Recruitment & Retention Premium (RRP) payment paid monthly. The RRP is subject to annual review.
As the Clinical Coding Automation Lead, you will be responsible for innovating and identifying functions within the Clinical Coding department suitable for automation to drive efficiencies for the department and the wider Group.
You will be expected to act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automation across the Clinical Coding department.
With the support of the Deputy Head of Clinical Coding and the Head of Clinical Coding you will act as a primary liaison with respect to automation for key stakeholders across both the Group and externally and you will be a leader of cultural change defining and communicating the benefits of automation to colleagues and key stakeholders.
