Job overview

  • The post holder will work as a member of the Allergy Nursing Team under the direction of the Specialist Consultants to deliver an expert nursing service to patients with various types of allergy, from diagnosis until discharge or transition to the adult service. The post holder will deliver specialist nursing skills, demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and expertise in the autonomous management of children and young people within the Allergy service. The post holder will ensure that patients and families are educated, informed and supported by providing clinical and social support in relation to their diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

  • It will be necessary to work flexibly across a caseload of patients across both the hospital and community setting for local patients and to provide expert advice to other health care professionals and initiate guidelines based therapies that address acute management issues
  • The post holder will contribute to the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines and will participate in audit.
  • The post holder will work across organisational, regional and national boundaries and form good working relationships with colleagues within the regional networks.
