Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Medicines Optimisation strategy.
  • Oversee the pharmacy workforce and budgets.
  • Ensure quality assurance, risk management, and compliance with CQC requirements.
  • Manage safe and effective electronic pharmacy systems.
  • Act as the Controlled Drug Accountable Officer, ensuring compliance with legislation and governance.
  • Manage financial and workforce resources, ensuring expenditure is within budgetary boundaries.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Masters Degree in Pharmacy, General Pharmaceutical Council registration, member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society, postgraduate clinical qualification relevant to hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Desirable: RPS faculty membership, MBA or MSc in management, research methodologies training, QI training, specialist pharmacy area training.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High-level communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Leadership and management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
  • Teaching and training skills.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Extensive pharmacy and NHS management experience.
  • Experience working with senior Trust staff at a corporate level.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy and prescribing issues in mental health.
