Job overview

London Ambulance Service (LAS) is looking for a new Chief People Officer to join our Board at an exciting time in our journey of improvement and transformation.

We are seeking a Chief People Officer who will play a lead role in shaping a thriving, inclusive, and high-performing workforce that delivers outstanding care to Londoners every day. With passion and purpose, our new Chief People Officer will drive the Trust’s people strategy - championing staff wellbeing, professional development, and cultural transformation. As a key member of the executive team, you will inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and ensure that every colleague feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference in one of the most dynamic and vital healthcare environments in the country.

Main duties of the job

As the only pan-London NHS provider, we respond to more 999 and 111 calls than any other ambulance service in the country, caring for thousands of Londoners every day. Our ambition is simple: to deliver outstanding emergency and urgent care whenever and wherever it is needed.

As a future NHS leader, the successful candidates will be able to demonstrate that they meet the NHS leadership competency framework for board members (please see the candidate information pack below for the six domains). The competency domains are aligned to Our NHS People Promise, Our Leadership Way and the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The best boards are those that reflect the workforce and communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from women, people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ candidates, who we know are all under-represented in these important roles.
