Job overview

This is a new strategic position in the Health Board’s journey to become a truly listening, citizen centred, integrated organisation and will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management and the delivery of strategic tasks across the organisation. This role requires expert advisory skills, excellent relationship management, and the ability to adapt quickly to emerging challenges.

Main duties of the job

The role: In this role you will:

  • be a visible and accessible member of the Senior Leadership Team and work closely with the Insight, Communications and Engagement team and Corporate Governance team to ensure critical issues are addressed in a timely way. be able to demonstrate experience of delivering to tight timescales within an organisational framework where you are expected at all times to behave in accordance with our values demonstrating commitment to the delivery of high-quality services to patients and staff. ensure the Chair, Chief Executive and Vice Chair are provided with clear and timely evidence-based reports and research and anticipate and respond to major policy and operational issues, ensuring the Chief Executive Officer has accurate and clear information on which to form a view on the way forward. Ensure the Chief Executive and Chair are sighted on external matters and are fully briefed for all external meetings in a timely manner. be able to identify the key external relationships, committee and fora required for constructive health system working, ensuring that the Chief Executive/Executive team has a wide view of the external environment and is fully prepared with required information. be an excellent communicator in written, presentational and oral form to convey complex and sometimes contentious ideas, be able to develop policies and procedures to a high standard, and assimilate complex information from multiple sources accurately and at speed.

The role is critical in the Health Board’s journey to de-escalation and you will have an integral role in supporting the Executive Team to navigate the significant work required to achieve the Health Board’ s strategic aims.
