To prepare & serve patients meals and specialised culinary items (including serving where appropriate) either independently or as a member of a team, ensuring this is carried out in accordance with the Food Hygiene Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006
1. Responsible for the preparation, cooking, despatch and serving of all meals, snacks and beverages in all associated areas to the agreed menus and standards.
2. Cater for any dietary requirements and special functions as they may arise.
3. Utilise staff, materials and equipment in an efficient and effective manner to minimise wastage.
4. Report defects in equipment, linen and food commodities and ensure that these are rectified.
5. Be aware and observe Health and Safety regulations and all other appropriate legislation.
6. Ensure the proper use and handling of the equipment.
7. Ensure the correct cleaning, washing up and storage of crockery, equipment and other associated utensils within the department.
8. Maintain records, stock control sheets, temperature control sheets.
9. Ensure the food is cooked and records e.g. number of meals served,
cash control, free meals issued, production
10. Food items to be stored in hygienic conditions.
11. Ensure the kitchen is kept clean at all times.
12. Ensure a high standard of personal and hygienic practices.
13. Comply with the healthy eating policy and ensure that healthy eating is promoted at all times.
14. Control, rotate, issue and monitor stock.
15. Order and check and record food supplies to ensure procedures are adhered to at all times in relation to quantity and quality control.
16. Minimise waste throughout the food preparation process.
17. Participate in the pursuit of continuous quality improvements.
18. Contribute ideas on menus, functions and the catering services in general.
19. Attend staff training and assist senior Patient Experience staff with development and training of junior staff as required.
