Job summary
We are looking for a strong, competent swimmer with an interest in exercise to support rehabilitation following injury. Who is eager to gain valuable life skills, is enthusiastic, adaptable and an organised individual to work as a Centre Assistant/Lifeguard. Ensuring the safety of all users of the facilities at the Park Rehabilitation Centre. The lifeguard qualification is an advantage but not necessary, as the successful candidate must be willing to undertake the qualification. However, on applying, the applicant must be a strong, competent swimmer. All shortlisted candidates must be willing to undertake a swim test. These vacancies would be ideal for someone looking for evenings and weekend work to fit around a busy family, studying, or just seeking a change of pace and career. You will be working in a fun, lively environment with like-minded people, helping to inspire others to support their rehabilitation following clinical intervention and to work together and deliver their very best. Work patterns will include evenings and weekends.
Main duties of the job
Communicate effectively with all centre users and colleagues, and be aware of problems and how to prevent accidents. Preparation of activities for service users and cleaning duties are also part of the working day, ensuring a customer-focused environment at all times.
As part of this role, there is an admin element with designated time to update the referral spreadsheet and payment sheet. The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of Excel, developing and updating Excel spreadsheets and Word, with an excellent telephone manner
The lifeguard qualification is an advantage but not necessary, as the successful candidate must be willing to undertake the qualification. However, on applying, the applicant must be a strong, competent swimmer.
Pre-requisites for this course are:
- Able to jump or dive into deep water.
- Able to swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds for their assessment.
- Be able to swim 100 metres on their front and 100 metres on their back competently.
- Able to tread water for 30 seconds.
- Able to surface dive to the floor of the pool (deep end) - usually 1.8-3m depending on pool.
- Able to climb out of the pool unaided (without use of steps).
- Confident and not afraid of water, getting their face wet or being submerged.
