We are seeking a motivated and hands‑on Catering Team Leader to support the delivery of high‑quality patient, staff and visitor catering services across the hospital. In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day supervision of Catering Assistants and ensure safe, efficient and customer‑focused service delivery. This includes supporting meal services across wards, clinics, and our staff/visitor dining room, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Working as part of the Catering Team on a rotational shift pattern, you will provide visible leadership, organise staff rotas, monitor food safety documentation, and help maintain a clean, safe and well‑run catering environment.

You will work 24 hours per week, delivered across 12‑hour shifts, with working hours falling between 7am and 8pm as part of a rotational roster covering all service areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising catering staff across patient, staff and visitor services.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Food Safety, HACCP and Health & Safety standards. Supporting and motivating staff, delivering training, coaching and one‑to‑one meetings.
  • Monitoring food quality, temperatures and hygiene practices.
  • Participating in audits and maintaining accurate departmental records.
  • Assisting in daily operational decisions, managing rotas, and responding to service needs.

Essential requirements:

  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supervisory Skills (or working towards).
  • Supervisory experience within a catering environment.
  • Ability to work to targets and deadlines and make independent operational decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and lead a team.
  • Experience working within tight budgets and delivering high‑quality service.
  • Ability to conduct training, coaching and staff appraisals.
