Main duties of the job
- To represent the Trust maintaining a clean tidy uniformed appearance. 2. To gather, process, keep and protect car park and car park user information and data and produce reports. Supervise all parking and checking of all vehicles for non-payment of parking fees. 3. To manage vehicles entering and leaving the car parks, parking areas and roadways enabling patients, visitors and staff to enter the Trust sites and buildings with ease and without causing stress or delay. 4. To participate in the collection of money from and the maintenance of the ‘Pay on Foot’ / ‘Pay & Display’ machines. 5. To maintain the cleanliness of the car parking equipment and the signage and to assess quarterly the road markings and traffic calming devices. 6. To maintain ticket levels in entry and exit stations. 7. The production and issuing of permits, warnings and vehicle ‘parking charge notices’ (PCN’s). 8. To process, manufacture and issue staff ID’s (Chichester only). 9. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, visitors, staff, contractors and other emergency services to ensure there is clear access to all areas at all times.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The car park wardens help patients, visitors and staff to safely park their vehicles to ease access to clinics, wards and places of work. It is also a function of the post to manage vehicle movements across the sites to ensure emergency vehicles can access all areas. The post also requires the collection and processing of activity data and the production and issuing of permits, warnings and vehicle ‘Parking Charge Notices (PCNs)’.
Monitoring of traffic, tickets and cash collections from all the trust car park pay stations for the specified hours each week (including Bank Holidays and week-ends).
A flexible attitude towards the hours of work will be expected when necessary in view of the seasonal and daily pressures of visitor use. Times may be adjusted according to local circumstances and subject to discussion with service manager.
Monitoring and reporting on all the activities that take place on the Trust sites, especially car parking for the specified hours each week (including Public Holidays and weekends).
Some evening work will be required to gain a fuller picture of the activities that take place on the Trusts sites. Times may be adjusted according to local circumstances and subject to discussion with the Car Park Services Manager – Contract Services.
Help with the positive management of all trust car parks and roadways ensuring ease of access for patients, visitors, staff, contractors and suppliers to the sites and buildings.
DIMENSIONS: The post holder will be required to work in all weathers patrolling the parking areas and roadways of the hospital sites. The post also requires communication with members of the public, contractors to the Trust and staff to ensure the efficient management of the site car parks and parking areas.

- The collection of parking fees and issuing of egress tickets using a cash register, keeping accurate daily reports including cash, ticket records to comply with audit controls.
- Supervise and assist with car parking with the aim of providing a safe and easy experience for all visitors.
- Assist patients and visitors in finding their way around the Trust site.
- Report to the line manager any irregularities concerning the safety of the site and to monitor generally the condition and use of the Trust sites.
- To report registration number of a vehicle, when the owner refuses to pay, in order that the necessary action can be taken.
- Carry out machine repairs where possible.
- Report faults to equipment supplier for repair when unable to repair.
