Job overview

The Pharmacy Department is seeking a motivated and ambitious pharmacist with a strong interest in oncology and haematology to join our Cancer Services team.

Based primarily at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, the post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy support across all three chemotherapy day units, the mobile chemotherapy unit, the inpatient haematology ward and the aseptic services unit.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in systemic anticancer therapy within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team. The role involves clinical screening of SACT prescriptions, contributing to safe chemotherapy pathways, supporting the aseptic unit and clinical trials, and helping to deliver high‑quality pharmaceutical care for patients undergoing cancer treatment across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy input for oncology and haematology prescriptions generated within the Trust’s chemotherapy units, ensuring systemic anticancer therapy is used safely, effectively and in line with national standards.

They will support the aseptic production unit in the preparation and supply of systemic anticancer medicines and clinical trial products, working within governance and regulatory requirements.

The role includes identifying medication‑related risks within chemotherapy services and contributing to the development and implementation of safe systems of practice. The post holder will also provide clinical pharmacy support to the inpatient haematology ward as part of the wider Cancer Services team.
