Cancer MDT Coordinator - Fixed Term
Full time - 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday, Band 4 AfC
The MDT Coordinator is an essential part of the whole team providing high quality and prompt care to cancer patients. The individual is responsible for the smooth running and efficiency of the MDT meetings; including preparation for meetings, tracking and chasing up on progress of cancer patients’ diagnostic and treatment steps, timely and accurate collection of cancer data, and ensuring outcomes are followed up after MDT meetings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Attend MDT meetings on a weekly basis. This may require being available for an early start, late finish or during lunchtimes. • Provide administrative support for the MDT meetings. This includes producing and circulating lists of patients to be discussed. • Ensure that all patients newly diagnosed or referred with cancer are discussed at the MDT in line with national guidelines. • Liaise with clinical and administrative staff across departments to develop MDT meeting lists. • Ensure that proformas for each patient to be discussed at the MDT are prepared, having identified all relevant existing clinical data. • Organise the weekly multidisciplinary team meeting ensuring that notes, xrays, pathology slides and other relevant information is available when required. • Ensure that action plan proformas for patients discussed are produced with agreed review dates as necessary. • Log actions of meetings and be responsible for ensuring that such actions have been carried out. • Ensure that outcomes of MDTs (management and treatment plans) are filed in the patient’s notes. • Take responsibility for alerting MDT members to any changes to the MDM time, venue or date. • Be an active member of the MDT at weekly meeting – gather data/information and provide support to the clinical team e.g. what clinical information is available for review, use of database. • To ensure all attendees sign attendance sheets at each meeting, maintain an electronic record of this to provide quarterly audit of this to the lead clinicians and Service Manager. • To continuously develop routine working procedures with the MDT to ensure the timely collection of data and to facilitate data validation • To take part in MDT service improvement work including collection of data for analysis, mapping exercises and service redesign work.
