Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to provide a lead role across CAMHS for working with young people with learning disabilities and Autism. The post-holder will have expert highly specialist knowledge in this area and provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people with Learning Disabilities and Autism in CAMHS.

You will be part of the CAMHS clinical leadership team and be well supported by them and the other Consultant Psychologist in post.  Our CAMHS service has a strong track record for developing staff and providing continuing professional development opportunities. Supervision is seen as crucial and all staff are offered protected time.

The post holder will support the delivery of the CAMHS Care Unit leadership functions including but not limited to, governance, service development and workforce planning. The postholder will have a particular focus on risk in governance and maintain an overview for CAMHS. They will also provide a lead role for SEND.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead on, and provide expert, specialist psychological advice, guidance and contribute to highly-specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for children and young people with learning disabilities and autism in CAMHS (primarily in Core).
  • To lead on the provision of high quality evidenced-based therapies for  young people with learning disabilities and Autism in CAMHS working closely across multidisciplinary teams and with the service’s senior management team.
  • To contribute to care unit management functions such as quality governance, contributing to service improvement, quality assurance and governance across the Service, including leading on / maintaining oversight of any risks in CAMHS and SEND.
  • To line manage and supervise the team lead for LD CAMHS, line manage the principle psychologist in LD CAMHS and IHTT.
  • To provide collaborative and compassionate clinical leadership that enables positive engagement and skills development, and managerial support for the psychological workforce.
  • To provide psychology advice in your area of expertise beyond the care unit, supporting functions across the wider organisation.
  • To develop and maintain close working relationships with system service providers.
