Breast Care Nurse Specialist

Band 6: £37,338 - £44,962 per annum pro rata
Full-time 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 37.5hr per week 12-month Fixed-term contract/secondment role for a Registered Nurse with a good level of experience in breast cancer. The post holder will become an integral part of the Cancer services team to provide cover across both surgery and oncology services.
This rapidly expanding modern and busy unit offers many training opportunities for their staff, the opening of our cancer centre in February 2020 and development of a radiotherapy unit with Oxford University Hospital opened 2025. This developing service is supported by a forward thinking & supportive Management Team, Nurse Practitioners, Palliative Care Team & Macmillan Information and Support Centre.
We firmly believe in holistic care, with a newly established wellbeing team to enhance the recovery package for patients living with and beyond cancer. We have Citizen Advice Bureau onsite and offer a wide range of carers and patient support groups.

You will be expected to support and advise patients and their families on the breast cancer pathway. They will play a key role within the breast multidisciplinary team, working alongside Clinicians supporting patients in outpatients and inpatient settings with both clinical and holistic care. They will be a key educational resource and participate in the education of the multi-disciplinary team in aspects of breast cancer trust wide and work part of a wider breast nursing team ensuring cross cover trust wide.
It is expected that the individual will have a sound knowledge of breast care nursing with a high level of clinical credibility. The main part of the role will be to support patients and their families that have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The leadership role will encompass:
