Job overview

To support the work of the Coventry & Warwickshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (C&W BCSP) by ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely execution of essential administration tasks and activities that supports the entire bowel screening pathway, across all four sites, under the direction of the Screening Co-ordinator.

Acts as deputy for the Band 6 Screening Co-ordinator (Deputy Programme Manager).

Provides essential cover for Band 4 Screening Pathway Navigator with inequalities work related to meeting relevant KPI’s.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead the administration team on all daily administrative functions related to the C&W BCSP including a close collaboration with the Midlands and North West Regional HUB and other teams as required.
  • To line manage the Bands 2 and 3 administration team providing the necessary staff support and leadership, including addressing staffing issues and concerns, managing underperformance, completing PDR’s and developing personal development plans alongside regular 1:1 meetings with  staff.
  • To deputise for the Band 6 Screening Co-ordinator during times of absence and increased workload. ensuring they maintain a thorough understanding of the Screening Co-ordinators core responsibilities.
  • To support/undertake required inequalities work, alongside the Screening Pathway Navigator and Clinical Team to promote screening and meet relevant KPI’s.
  • Provide essential cover for the Band 4 Screening Pathway Navigator during times of absence and increased workload, ensuring they maintain a thorough understanding of the Navigators core responsibilities around pathway tracking, clock starts/stops and the Faster Diagnosis Standard.
  • To support the Screening Coordinator with administration staff training.
  • To work with the Screening Coordinator and Programme Manager to ensure consistent, high levels of service delivery are met by the C&W BCSP
  • To deliver administration support services that is in line with the Trust and NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme guidelines and targets

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide patients with advice regarding the administrative processes of the Bowel Screening Programme as and when required.
  • Assist the Screening Co-ordinator and/or Programme Manager to try and increase screening uptake within the programme.
  • Assist in quality management of the administration processes across the four regional sites where the C&W BCSP operates, to ensure the best possible service to patients.
  • To work flexibly within the department to ensure continuity of a high-quality service in relation to patient communications and queries.
