We are looking for a skilled, organised and enthusiastic individual to join our established team of Occupational Therapists and assistant practitioners at Prince Charles Hospital.

This role involves working with patients admitted to the acute in-patient wards at Prince Charles Hospital, to complete assessment, interventions and discharge planning.  Conditions we work with include but are not limited to orthopaedic and medical conditions, neurological conditions, cognitive impairments and amputees.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to work alongside registered Occupational Therapists and manage a delegated caseload of patients. You will be able to support the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of people with a range of functional difficulties within the bounds of the technician role.  Patient management will include responsibility for the delivery of care including liaison with patients, family, members of the MDT and external agencies.

The role will also include departmental duties to support the team in effective service delivery. You will need to have good time management, prioritisation skills, and flexibility to the service. In addition you will need to have  the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.
