The post holder will be responsible for:

  • The primary role of a Senior Clinical Support Worker is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to person-centred care
  • The Senior Clinical Support Worker should actively contribute to the health and well-being of patients, staff and service users and be able to communicate effectively with sensitivity and compassion.
  • They should be able to work independently within their sphere of nursing while under the supervision of registered nurses.
  • Senior Clinical Support Workers should demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific skills and tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies at UHNM.
  • They will be required to undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. Key to this role is flexibility with the requirement for staff to work variable shifts over 7 days a week on a week-by-week basis within agreed limits

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants who fulfil the essential qualifications/skills on the person specification/job description will be shortlisted and offered an interview for the Nurse Bank.

  • Candidates must have 12 months experience working in a care environment on a professional contract (nursing home etc within the last 5 years)
  • UHNM Maths & English condensed test at interview to show evidence of good Literacy and Numeracy level.
  • Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent) IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
  • Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willingness to work towards once in post.

We provide a full corporate induction, local area induction and supernumerary shifts to help you settle in if you have not worked in an acute trust for some time. Lots of in-house training is available for your personal development.

Please note all interviews will be taking place on Wednesday 1st July 2026 and due to logistics and operational reasons, no other dates will be considered at this time.

The role of this Senior Clinical Support Worker post is flexible, and the post holder will therefore, be required to provide support over a wide range of service/functions. Key to this flexibility is the requirement for staff to work variable hours on a week by week basis within agreed limits.

The post holder will be required to work according to a locally agreed Code of Conduct for Nursing Assistants.
