Job overview

The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team throughout the Homerton supporting temporary staffing requests. They will use their professional skill set and calming influence to identify and support patients presenting with mental health needs, supporting the implementation and engagement of care plans.

The RMN will be part of the multi-disciplinary team providing care to patients who present to the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Be able to support patients presenting with mental health needs, on a shift-to-shift basis, supporting the implementation and engagement of care plans ensuring the delivery of high quality and safe care.
  • Be able to use their specialist knowledge and skill set, to identify and detail deterioration / improvements and fluctuations in patient’s mental health and escalate to the relevant teams where there are significant risks.
  • To engage directly with patients in a holistic manner and determine any clinical, environmental, and social needs.
  • Assist in the management of clinical emergencies under the direction of the nurse in charge.
  • To be part of the multi-disciplinary team, working alongside, providing care to patients that present with physical needs.
  • Deliver excellent patient care through continuous review of evidence based clinical standards.
  • Contribute to policy, standards, and development of specialist care delivery strategies.
  • Be an excellent communicator. Maintain effective communication between teams.
  • Act as a resource providing clinical information for other areas.
