Vaccination is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases before they come into contact with them. The School Aged Immunisation Service for Northamptonshire, deliver vaccinations in both school settings and community clinics and work to promote the delivery of vaccinations as part of the Public Health Service offer. We are looking for bank support to help us to deliver the upcoming 2025/2026 Flu season.

Our main bases are in Kettering, Northampton & Daventry with satellite bases in Brackley and Corby. The upcoming program is countywide and you will be able to work as close to home as possible.

You will be part of a dynamic team consisting of a Clinical Team Lead, Quality Practitioners and colleagues in both clinical and administrative roles. You will be working alongside these colleagues to deliver the Flu programme safely and effectively as part of the Immunisation Service for Northamptonshire.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the School Aged Immunisation Team you will;

  • Assess and triage to determine suitability for the Flu vaccine
  • Work as part of a team to support the end-to-end process of delivering the Flu vaccine in a school or community setting
  • Be professionally accountable for the delivery of high quality care
  • Utilise technology to enable you to maximise use of electronic systems and update records at the point of contact in a school or community setting
  • You will need to hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own car that will enable you to be able to travel countywide in Northamptonshire as per the clinical need for cover at immunisation sessions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Service Users will be children and young people from 4 years to 18 years. Whilst the majority will be seen in school settings they will also be seen in clinic settings.

The service aims to provide an excellent standard of service which informs and educates children, young people and parents and carers to make informed decisions about the receipt of the Flu vaccination. You will work as part of a team to support the service and focus on delivering quality outcomes and improving the service user experience. You will play a vital role in delivering the school aged Flu immunisation programme and protecting the population from Flu.
