BANK - Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – ADOS trained  Band 6 & 7

Work within the Early Years Speech and Language Therapy and Child Development Service Teams to provide a highly specialist assessment and diagnostic service as part of a multidisciplinary team, for assessment and diagnosis of Autism and related conditions using relevant standardised assessments of children’s language, communication and interaction skills (such as the ADOS)

Deliver highly specialist clinical services to children across the age range including developing, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care, advice and support for preschool children with developmental speech, language delays / disorders and social communication differences. The role will include supporting parents, clients and other health and education professionals in all issues related to client management and delivering parent workshops to support understanding of ASD pre and post-diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

  • To conduct highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments to support the differential diagnosis of broad range of complex neuro-developmental conditions. This will involve assessment and differential diagnosis of children with probable comorbidities and differing social and educational contexts.
  • To assess, develop and implement highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy programmes of care to meet the needs of clients, in collaboration with other professionals adapting practice to meet individual patients’ circumstances.
  • To write comprehensive reports to be shared with families and a range of professionals, reflecting specialist knowledge including multidisciplinary assessment/review reports, EHCNA, Annual Reviews and Tribunal reports.
  • To provide advice and support to others regarding the management and care of children and young people with social communication differences and SLCN.
