Job overview

We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers to join our Hospital Bank.  Clinical Support Workers provide care by attending to all aspects of a patient's care whilst they are in hospital.  Working on the Bank means that you are likely to work in many different areas and with different teams.  Bank working is a great place to develop the scope of your healthcare experience.

You must have previous experience in a healthcare role and will need to hold the national Care Certificate or an equivalent qualification in healthcare.   We do not accept people onto the Bank without previous experience in healthcare.

Please note that as Bank work is a casual agreement with no guaranteed hours it does not meet the UKVI requirements for employment sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

Working in an acute hospital Trust is incredibly rewarding but can be busy and challenging.  You will be expected to care for very unwell patients and support them with personal care (such as washing or dressing) without being embarrassed or feeling awkward.  You will also need to be able to communicate empathetically and sympathetically with their advocates and relatives. You will need a flexible approach to work as the service is subject to short notice changes.

Our Hospital Bank operates like an internal agency, providing staff to cover vacant ad-hoc shifts throughout the hospital.  Working via the Bank gives you the flexibility to get a real work life balance and work when it suits you.

Clinical Support Worker shifts cover 24 hours 7 days a week. This includes weekends, nights and Bank Holidays. Most shifts are normally 12 hours and are usually 7am - 7pm, and 7pm to 7am, but there are a variety of shifts.   You must be able to work a minimum of two shifts each week.  Student Nurses are exempt from this requirement.

Bank workers must complete all statutory and mandatory training before they start working for Mid Cheshire Hospitals.  This will be provided.
