Job overview

We are currently seeking experienced Staff Nurse, Band 5 to work within our Learning Disabilities & Forensic Services via a Bank Contract, based in Norwich, Norfolk. You will be joining our Temporary Staffing Team within HPFT - Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. In particular, we are looking for temporary staff to work as and when required, often at short notice All roles on the Bank are for as and when workers, and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis. Requirements for various hours can be considered. If you are available in school holidays or term time only, then we would like to hear from you. HPFT provides services for service users with Mental Health, Learning Disability and Children’s and Adolescent Mental Health problems. Applicants should have some experience of working in a healthcare setting, particularly within Learning Disability services.

Main duties of the job

You will work in close collaboration with other professionals in assessing service user’s needs, devising care plans and evaluating outcomes that promote service user empowerment through the process. The post holder, with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) will participate in the assessment and treatment to provide high quality, individualised care, which addresses the needs of the service users.

You will support the Charge Nurse and the Team Leader to ensure that the service is managed effectively and efficiently in all aspects

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Actively fulfil the role of Named Nurse for the individuals in the service area, providing a holistic approach to service user assessment, treatment, review and management of packages of care.
  • Ensure that the statutory requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and Mental Capacity Act are observed and applied.
  • Have the clinical skills relative to the delivery of care in the service area.
  • Have effective working relationships with other professionals within the service area, across the Strategic Business Units (SBUs) Trust and other NHS providers and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute towards effective management and utilisation of resources with service area.
  • Lead a nursing staff team in the absence of the Charge Nurse.
