An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Team at Hillingdon Hospital.

We are seeking a band 6 Rotational Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, integrated inpatient therapy department. The therapy department is the third largest staff group within the Trust and is widely respected. As a Rotational Occupational Therapist, you will play an essential part in the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients. You will work closely with the patient, their support network, and Multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. Opportunities will be given to further develop your clinical and non clinical skills on rotations by taking an increased complexity and responsibility for caseload, while also supporting junior staff and facilitating student placements. We are looking for clinicians who have a passion and experience of working in an acute, physical health setting.

Main duties of the job

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Clinical

To autonomously complete the OT process with patients including:

  • Comprehensive assessment of needs
  • Provide individualised and specialised treatments to patients on caseload, which will include a variety of physical, cognitive, and psychological conditions.
  • Lead and facilitate on the OT process, including assessments and discharges with arranging package of care, providing equipment and community support. The OT process includes liaising with relatives, care givers and NOKs, providing updates regarding patients progress and discharge plans. To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions. To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to ensure effectiveness of intervention. To assess for patients’ equipment needs. Once equipment needs are identified, order equipment in a timely fashion to facilitate discharge. Equipment risk assessments eg bed rail assessments and manual handling risk assessments are to be completed where appropriate to ensure patient safety. Provide document interventions accurately and within guidelines. Provide timely and accurate documentation to facilitate a smooth transfer of care to the community . Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions for patients to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of therapy. Use agreed outcome measures to document the effectiveness.
