Job overview

The Primary Care Complex Emotional Needs Service is brief psychological service aimed at improving the lives of people who may struggle with emotional and relational difficulties associated with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

With additional investment we are now expanding our service to individuals with Complex PTSD (cPTSD), bridging the gap between primary care and secondary mental health services. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic psychologist to provide clinical leadership within our primary care complex emotional needs service covering the Banes locality. The successful applicant will be based with the primary care CEN service whilst also maintaining links with BaNES psychological therapies service.

Main duties of the job

In this pivotal role you will deliver high quality psychological therapy to clients while also leading, a team of therapists and MHWP’s. You will ensure the delivery of evidence-based person-centred interventions whilst helping to shape and develop the service to meet the evolving needs of the primary care population.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide highly specialist assessment and therapy (CBT / DBT informed) to patients and carers as appropriate to the service.
  • To provide highly specialist advice and consultation on clients care and management in relation to the service.
  • To clinically supervise other therapists and other professionals in the team in addition to taking on line management responsibilities for some.
  • To contribute to audit, research, policy and service development within the complex emotional needs pathway.
  • To develop and deliver training in complex emotional needs and trauma informed care for multidisciplinary staff.
  • Contribute to continued service development and audit
  • Participate in CPD and other developmental activities
