The Royal Free London Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic Band 8a sonographer to join our outstanding Imaging Department, working across our Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware sites, where we help deliver a wide range of acute, specialist, and community health services.

Main duties of the job

You must be clinically highly competent and keen to contribute towards efficient service delivery in a fast-paced working environment.

Cross site rotation through Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware sites would be required depending on service needs.

Your main duties will include:

  • Perform and report on a full range of ultrasound examinations including: General abdomens, gynaecology (incl, emergency gynae), small parts, hernias, vascular, paediatrics (incl. baby hips) and all forms of obstetric scans (incl. early pregnancy).
  • MSK, Breast and Head & neck also desirable for applicant to have, however not essential to apply for this post.
  • Provide expert clinical opinion, acting as a point of reference for colleagues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely patient diagnosis.
  • Mentor junior sonographers, radiographers, and students in their clinical development.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and health & safety regulations.
  • Contribute to service development and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in clinical audits, QA programs, and service evaluation.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and clinical staff in line with our World-Class Care Values.
  • Supporting consultant sonographers and managers as part of this advanced Band 8a role.
