Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join our HR Business Partnering Team, providing support to our Estates and Facilities, Temporary Staffing and other corporate functions. This presents a valuable opportunity for an established HR Advisor to broaden their experience within an ambitious mental health organisation that has a proactive HR service.

You will be passionate about supporting the HRBP team in delivering an effective and professional HR Service. You will provide compassionate and comprehensive frontline support on all HR aspects, including dealing with complex disciplinary and grievance issues, performance management, absence management, change management and other related HR projects.

You will be Level 5 CIPD qualified (or equivalent), have proven track record of managing ER cases, and possess strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR practices and processes, preferably within a large organisation. Additionally, you will have a high standard of written and verbal communication with strict attention to detail and strong Microsoft office / IT skills. You must be able to demonstrate  excellent time management to meet competing and often changing deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior HR Advisor, you'll collaborate with Deputy HRBP for the area of responsibility to:

Act as the go-to person for managers and colleagues on various employment matters.

Proactively manage allocated case work and lead designated projects. Support managers through processes and ensure policy understanding.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across People Directorate and our Staff Side

Utilise HR systems and reporting to analyse and support regular 121 discussions with managers.

Contribute to the overall HR and People Plan by ensuring managers meet KPIs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Supporting Business Partnering

Support the HR interface with managers and staff in AWP, providing HR advice against agreed AWP Policy and/or as agreed with the HRBP, on a range of workforce related issues, including resourcing and employee relations issues.

Undertake some  aspects of case work within designated Division(s) / Directorate(s), as required to by the HRBP, e.g. supporting straightforward disciplinary hearings, usually short of dismissal, and support more complex matters through the taking of notes and drafting correspondence for the HRBP.

Escalate HR issues as necessary, suggesting possible courses of action.

Develop and maintain up to date knowledge of employment legislation, and seek advice to ensure policy and practice is up to date.

Work collaboratively with the wider HR Directorate team to ensure effective communication and integration, sharing knowledge and information to deliver a seamless service to the organisation.

Ensure information entered onto any personal/HR data and files (including case files) is kept and accessed securely.

Support the development of HR policy as required.

Support the delivery of Service Agreements between the HR Directorate and ‘customers’ across AWP as directed by the HRBP.

Work within the CIPD Professional Code of Conduct.

Workforce plans and workforce reporting

Support the HRBP to analyse workforce information for designated Division(s) / Directorate(s), including the Workforce Dashboard, including staff-in-post, recruitment/ vacancies, sickness absence, turnover/ retention data, statutory and mandatory training, appraisal and supervision rates, employee relations data and soft intelligence, identifying areas of concern.

Support the HRBP to develop local solutions to target improvements in workforce performance and/or manage risks, e.g. recruitment campaigns and retention programmes to support achievement of service delivery plans.

Recruitment and retention plans

Support the HRBP by providing information about resourcing issues within designated Division(s) / Directorate(s).

Develop skills in selection interviewing and train and support recruiting managers as required.

OD Plan

Support the embedding of the AWP values by demonstrating behaviours that are in line with those values.

Support the HRBP in delivery of local plans to respond to annual staff survey, exit interviews, and retention surveys.

Support the HRBP in delivery of designated elements of training courses on a range of workforce related issues.

Learning and Development Plan

Support the HRBP to identify learning needs in Division(s) / Directorate(s) and participate in the design and delivery of training to meet those needs, as required.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Support the HRBP in the progress of the equalities agenda of a diverse workforce in Division(s) / Directorate(s), by highlighting issues and concerns.

Health and Well-being plan

Highlight H&WB issues to the HRBP so that they can be addressed.
