A new and exciting opportunity to support Specialist Patient Pathways within the Community Dental Service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Specialist Sedation Dental Nurse to join the  Sandwell locality Community Dental Nursing team .

The position will initially be based in Sandwell and will support all aspects of the service supporting assessment and treatment under Local Anaesthetic, Sedation and General Anaesthetic at Sandwell  Health Campus.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that carry out a variety of different dental treatments under local anaesthetic, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia.

The post-holder must hold a Dental  IV Sedation Qualification Certificate  and be willing to work towards IHS certificate if required for competencies/or Radiography, if not already obtained, be up to date with Sedation training and able to supply a copy of their CPD log relating to their Sedation specialism.

It is essential that the post-holder must be flexible and ability to travel to other sites/locations within the division as required.

The Post Holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.

Delivery of high-quality clinical nursing support for the specialties across Dental Services Division clinical sites to respond to the complex needs of the patients that meet the specialty criteria.

Main duties of the job

Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social and medical needs

Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers.

Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.

Support recording of  patient pre-operative assessments. E.g. height weight and blood pressure

Carry out any other duties relevant to this role specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s)

Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department to support the clinical patient pathway.

Identify relevant staff & student who require additional training within the specialty & escalate as appropriate

Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.

Adhere to procedures to support and maintaining achieving national targets of compliance.

Ensure to implement agreed, local Divisional and Trust Policies.

Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.
