About the Role

As a Perinatal Nursery Nurse, you’ll bring a strong foundation in child development and attachment theory to inform assessments and deliver tailored interventions. You’ll work confidently and independently across a range of community settings, including:

  • Home visits
  • Children’s centres
  • Local community hubs

You’ll also support individuals transitioning from acute mental health care or Mother and Baby Units, helping them reintegrate and thrive in their home environments. Where appropriate, you’ll engage partners, family members, and other children in your interventions, promoting holistic family wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified Nursery Nurse with experience in early years and family support
  • Sound knowledge of child development and attachment theory
  • Confidence working independently in diverse community setting.

Main duties of the job

  • Professional Development You’ll be supported to work towards the National Perinatal Competency Framework and meet Perinatal Quality Network community standards, ensuring your growth and excellence in this specialist field.

As a Perinatal Nursery Nurse, you will:

  • Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to assess, plan, and deliver high-quality care within the perinatal mental health setting.
  • Maintain accurate, timely healthcare records in accordance with professional standards and service protocols.
  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of women/birthing people, their infants, and wider families.
  • Support recovery and wellbeing across diverse community environments, including home visits, children’s centres, and local hubs.
  • Collaborate closely with professionals across Early Attachment services, IAPT, maternity services, health visiting, and children's services to ensure integrated, holistic care.
