The post holder will provide administrative support for Pathology. There will be a focus on supporting the documentation and follow through for all matters relating to molecular requesting / resulting, e.g. organising and monitoring requests, audits and supporting clinical staff. The vision is to create a digital pathway for the requesting / resulting and this post is integral to achieving that.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the molecular request pathway, working with clinical staff to monitor, action and audit requests.
- To be responsible for the data extraction queries as agreed by SMT and reported at agreed intervals for the various departmental workload statistics and process these following departmental protocols
- To support the CD and Senior Operations Manager with projects pertaining to the service.
- General administrative duties for the department such as filing of all correspondence, results, photocopying and distribution of mail - identify and auctioning any correspondence especially around updating the PTL list for pathology and chasing any unknown or out of date results to feedback and ensure these are bought to the attention of the relevant clinician for action. Produce relevant correspondence for CD/SOM.
- Supporting the administration team with the preparation of MDT meetings
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, using initiative and discretion or directing the call to the appropriate staff member.
- Respond to requests from CD and SOM when required.
- Supporting the Pathology operations management team with the process of monitoring requests and auditing pathways.
