Job overview

We are delighted to have opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated Mental Health Support Workers to join us and work within a busy and innovative CAMHS Outreach Service to offer home treatment for young people with eating disorders. If you feel you are a good fit for this role, we advise that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we will be capping the number of applications.

Our service operates from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. We are looking for staff to cover these areas. Due to the wide patch we cover, a driving licence and access to a car to allow travel across these areas are crucial to the role.

The roles will include a variety of training opportunities, including internal training in Family-Based Treatment for Eating Disorders, CBT‑E, crisis support and supported eating.

This is a developing service that will enhance our current offer to young people who have eating problems. This includes community nursing and acute hospital support. The team operates at the interface of Acute Hospitals, Home Treatment and Inpatient Admission, alongside locality CAMHS teams.

Right to Work in the UK This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already hold the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application, as the organisation is unable to support sponsorship for this post.

Main duties of the job

We provide short‑term intensive home treatment and in‑reach into Acute Hospital settings as an extension to a Community CAMHS care package.

We aim to support young people and their families to avoid inpatient admissions where possible and to support them with recovery in a home setting. The team is currently made up of a skilled mix of Band 7 and Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners and Band 4 Support Workers. We aim to work in pairs where possible; however, there are times when you would be expected to work autonomously with indirect support and supervision from a registered practitioner.

This role will be working within a specialist CAMHS eating disorder service, which offers a real opportunity to develop new skills while also increasing your current skills and knowledge base through direct work and specialist training.

This role also includes working with young people who are being fed via a naso‑gastric (NG) tube in their home environment. You will not be providing NG feeds.

Providing meal support, psychoeducation and emotional support to young people and their families who are affected by an eating disorder within Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Providing support in young people’s homes and Acute Hospitals to prevent or decrease the length of hospital admissions where possible.

Working alongside colleagues within the ED Home Treatment Team and wider colleagues from Acute Trusts and CAMHS.
