Job overview

There are two posts available for an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Psychological Practitioner/Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner to work within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS). These roles are for a 6-month period (secondment or fixed term contract).

Based in Chorley, the Traumatic Stress Service provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for individuals who experience a significant range of distressing symptoms following an event(s) which they have found to be traumatic.

A key part of this role would be working with clients who are on the treatment waiting list and to help provide them with the psychological skills to help manage and alleviate their distress. These structured preparatory interventions are delivered either online or face-face.  So, if you are passionate about working with trauma and supporting others to enhance their emotional wellbeing and want to come and work as part of the Traumatic Stress Service, then please do apply.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work in a defined area of health and social care.  This may be acute healthcare, mental health and/or community health. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and of different ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The post-holder will be required to conduct psychological assessments, develop structured formulations and deliver psychologically informed, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of an experienced clinical psychologist/ qualified psychological professional.  This will include interventions appropriate to presenting need such as cognitive behavioural techniques, solution-focused approaches and mindfulness-based skills.
